Classic Tournament

The Optimist Golf Classic will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2012, at the 1757 Golf Club in Dulles, Virginia. The course, designed by David Heatwole who brings nearly 20 years of course design for legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus to 1757 Golf Club, features dramatic views of Broad Run and the majestic Virginia landscape.

The tournament is a “Captain’s Choice” format with a 1 pm shotgun. Registration will begin at 11 am, with a putting contest at noon. An elegant buffet lunch will be served prior to tee time, and later the awards ceremony will feature a silent auction (including chances to win a round of golf with a Washington Capital) and a raffle for other fabulous prizes. In addition to the traditional longest drive and closest to the pin challenges, the Optimist Club is offering a Mercedes (thanks to the generosity of Mercedes Benz of Arlington), and $100,000, to be won by “lucky ace” golfers at the designated holes. I hope these prizes entice you to join us in the fun!

Please join us on May 10th for this fantastic event. The Optimist Golf Tournament has always been fortunate to have supporters who care about the  youth of our community. The Arlington Optimists will also contribute a portion of the proceeds from this tournament to support children’s health issues (in the areas of autism and cancer research, in particular). For more information, please go to www.oiarlington.org, or contact me with any questions you may have. Looking forward to seeing you in May!
